Tonight on 360:
Outrage and sorrow, the families of 12 dead miners are demanding answers. What went wrong? And how did the sole survivor make it?
And don't forget about the reruns at 1am and 5am.

Anderson was amazing. He was on for hours and hours and although he was exhausted he still managed to keep going. It was a horrible night for those families.

Your blog is refreshingly free of swoony "isn't Anderson adorable?" blather. (Full disclosure: I think he is, but I don't obsess over his every blink.Oy.)

Anyway, Anderson's coverage of the Sago tragedy has been exhaustive-and it has been interesting to see what the backlash has been since the terrible reversal of the news.

What do you all think, is this just a situation of horrific miscommunication, or does the rush to be "first on the scene" play a small part as well?

(BTW-I think the mine CEO is an asshat. I don't know how he can sleep peacefully at night.)

The need to be first with breaking news is a problem for most news organizations but in this case the news of the miners deaths were relayed directly to Anderson and although he was skeptical and tried to get confirmation, it would have been almost impossible for them to not air it.
